Description

IT'S DONE.

Forgive me, in advance, for the composition. I cut off one of his hands and accidentally put Mardi Gras beads over his head, but it was too sunny for me to see the preview image properly in the camera. Details here: [link]

But yes. IT'S DONE.

This is my Monkey. He is half mechanical-hinged-toy and half plush-squishy-toy. With the inclusion of his flexible tail and both the ball-joints in his neck, he has 21 points of articulation, most of them loose and hanging. He's got some little ears on his furry head (Protip: Do not use nailguns on golf balls) and enjoys hanging from anything and everything.

This took me quite a while from conception to finish, but I did most of it in one week (after having the arm assemblage pre-prepared, requiring only minor tweaks). The hardest part was adding the fur, especially to the torso areas. I had to get some stuffing for volume and used super glue in a surgical manner to get the fur to adhere to the metal.

The class-project I finished and submitted this for was "Contrast", which I passed with flying colors; I mostly wanted to do a contrast of materials, but the conflicting toy elements (action figure vs. plush) and the classic "robot animal" theme (primal whimsicality vs. apocalyptic pragmatism ) worked for it too.

So yes, on to the feedback. Enjoy! Again, details are here: [link]
